Josh Frydenberg: Former Treasurer Embarks on New Career Path
From Politics to Finance
Former Australian Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has joined the multinational investment bank Goldman Sachs, two months after losing his seat in the federal election. This significant career shift marks a new chapter in the life of the politician once considered a potential future prime minister.
A Change of Direction
During his tenure as treasurer, Frydenberg played a pivotal role in Australia's economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing the JobKeeper and JobSeeker programs that provided financial support to workers and businesses. However, he lost his seat in the Kooyong electorate to independent candidate Dr. Monique Ryan in the May 2022 election.
Frydenberg's new position at Goldman Sachs is a departure from his previous career in politics. The investment bank is widely recognized for its expertise in financial services, including investment banking, asset management, and wealth management.
